Win one, lose one, at the ballot box for Miamisburg Schools
MIAMISBURG, Ohio -- It was a good news, bad news situation for Miamisburg Schools in yesterday's special election.
Only one of two money issues passed yesterday.
The five year 7.06 mill levy was okayed with 58 percent of the vote. The three year emergency operating levy lost 53 to 47 percent.
That means the district still has to make $4.5 Million in cuts.
They might try again in May.
Levies for Little Miami Schools in Warren County and Greenville Schools also went down to defeat.
What others are saying
- LevyThis is an email I sent to the Governors office. I suggest everyone do the same.
The citizens of Miamisburg rejected an emergency school levy yesterday prompting what could be cuts in the district totaling 4.5 million dollars. The question is simple; The Ohio Supreme court has ruled the state of Ohio must come up with other means (not rely heavily on property taxes) to fund Ohio's schools. Why is Ohio ignoring this ruling? You have cut funding and tax payers are rejecting levies. How are the kids suppose to get a well rounded education, how are we to maintain what's left of our declining property values and how are we going to bring in new business to a community that can't support its schools? I would like an answer please. - Miamisburg School CutsI thought our "brilliant leader",Obama, had education "under control"?! What happened? Can't this stooge get ANYTHING right? America suffers as we endure being run over by the "Soul Train".
I might move to New Zealand! Seriously!
