Unemployment rates rise again in Dayton and surrounding counties

COLUMBUS, Ohio - For the twelfth straight month, unemployment in Dayton and Montgomery County is in double figures, according to the latest unemployment figures released by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

The unemployment rate in Dayton rose from 12.6 to 13.2 percent in December, third-highest among area cities. Only Trotwood (13.9) and Xenia (13.8) had higher rates.

Every county in the Miami Valley saw unemployment rates rise as well. Preble and Miami Counties had the highest rates at 12.3 percent, with Montgomery not far behind at 12 percent.
