President of Sinclair calls for 17% tuition raise
DAYTON, Ohio - The oldest community college in the state of Ohio has held back tuition increases during 12 of the previous 19 years but that may change if President Steven Lee Johnson has it his way.
Sinclair Community College now operates with the lowest tuition in the state. The second lowest is that of Lorain County Community College who charge nearly $400 more a quarter than Sinclair.
Johnson says they need to increase the revenue for the school or "Sinclair could find itself in a few years in an unhealthy situation."
The 17 percent increase in tuition would be on top of the 3.5 percent increase students saw this quarter that was passed by Sinclair's board of trustees in September.
Mr. Johnson plans to go before the board on Saturday, Jan. 30, to propose the measure.
