DAYTON, Ohio -- College enrollments in the Miami Valley are rolling right along into the winter season.

Sinclair Community College started its winter quarter Monday 24,204 degree and credit course students, nearly 7 percent more than in winter 2009, according to college officials.

Sinclair also has 14,960 full-time equivalent students for winter term -- nearly 15 percent more than last year at this time.

Students continue to enroll so these numbers could rise.

Wright State University officials say the school started its winter quarter Monday with 17,247 students, a 4.5 percent increase over winter 2009

The University of Dayton started spring semester classes Monday and expected to see higher enrollment than January 2009.

Registration for the spring semester starting Jan. 17 at Edison Community College in Piqua is up 20 percent to 25 percent over last year at this time.
