Cincinnati concert tragedy observes 30th anniversary
CINCINNATI, Ohio -- You won't find a marker anywhere in Cincinnati to remember the event but it was 30 years ago tonight that 11 young people died trying to enter a concert by the rock group "The Who".
Among the dead were several local concert-goers including 22-year-old Walter Adams of Trotwood and 21-year-old Connie Burns of Miamisburg.
That tragedy at Riverfront Coliseum led to laws that ended festival seating which was blamed as the biggest factor in the trampling deaths of those victims.
A vigil will be planned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the tragedy at 6:30 tonight on the plaza of the U.S. Bank Arena, the current name of the former Riverfront Coliseum.
