DAYTON, Ohio - An area museum will be getting another permanent display, this time courtesy of just one man.

An Ohio member of the Tuskegee Airmen is donating his Congressional Gold Medal and other mementoes to the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center. The museum in Wilberforce plans to put the gifts from Charles Williams on permanent display.

The 93-year-old Dayton man served in World War II with the airmen, the nation's first black military pilots and ground crew. He says they had to overcome resistance from a nation that he says did not want blacks trained to fly.

Besides the Congressional Gold Medals he and other airmen received in 2006, Williams' contribution to the museum also includes autographed photo posters from a gathering of surviving airmen in Dayton last month. Previously, Williams donated his old Air Force uniform.

Nice addition! This is a fine museum and well worth visiting. Just "hanging out at the barber shop" and listening to the "dialogue" is worth the price of admission.
