National No.1 Miami looking to "ice" No.4 Michigan this weekend
OXFORD, Ohio - It's not every day that a Miami Redhawks team is favored on the road against the Michigan Wolverines, but such will be the case this weekend.
The Redhawks hockey team will travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan this weekend for two huge games between two of the best teams in the country. Miami is ranked No. 1 in the country, posting a 6-1-1 record through October, while the Wolverines are No. 4 at 4-2-0 after sweeping their Lake Superior State in their first conference weekend.
Miami is 3-1 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, beating Northern Michigan twice and splitting two games with Michigan State. The Redhawks were the runner-up to Boston University in last year's Frozen Four, becoming the first program in any sport at Miami to reach a national championship game.
The two teams will play Friday night and Saturday night, with both games starting at 7:35 p.m. Miami received 41 of a possible 46 first place votes in the latest national poll from U.S. College Hockey Online.
