Delays at some Dayton polling places after workers arrive late
DAYTON, Ohio - Several polls in Dayton experienced delays early Tuesday morning after some election workers arrived late to the polling places.
Montgomery County Board of Elections Director Steve Harsman said the delays were up to 15 minutes at certain places, though no voters were turned away as a result of the late arrivals.
At one Dayton poll, an encoder used to activate a voting machine didn't work, so paper ballots were used until a new encoder was installed.
Despite the delays, early reports are that Election Day has been a smooth operation in the Miami Valley as voters decide on mayoral races, parks levies, and major statewide issues like casino gambling, among others.
