SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Clark County is now confirming that an investigation into the first possible death of the H1N1 virus in the county has produced a positive result.

The Clark County Health Commissioner's office says a 26-year-old woman who died on October 27 did, in fact, die from H1N1. It is the county's first confirmed death from the virus, commonly referred to as the "swine flu."

The Health District is limited by privacy laws in disclosing details regarding the case beyond the information available through the official death certificate, which is public record.

Clark County is the only county in the Miami Valley that is holding an H1N1 flu clinic today, and the health commissioner is encouraging everyone at risk to receive the vaccine. Target groups have been expanded to include anyone between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old, as well as anyone between the ages of 25 and 64 with any chronic medical condition. Pregnant women are especially encouraged to get vaccinated.

The clinic is being held at the Clark County Fairgrounds until 8 p.m. or until officials run out of the vaccine.
