SPRINGBORO, Ohio -- A shocking revelation for parents of kids at a youth acrobatic center in Springboro.

Parents were told by letter yesterday that 41-year-old Darin Caviness, the former co-owner of Hand-to-Hand, is a convicted sex offender.

The letter came from Michelle Caviness about her former business partner and husband and admitted that Darin Caviness is a convicted sex offender in Pennsylvania.

.On Oct. 7, Caviness, who lives in Spring Valley, was sentenced to three years of supervised probation, 300 hours of community service and ordered to forgo contact with anyone under 18 years old, according to court records in Somerset County, Pa. He is registered as a sex offender in Greene County.

In June, he pleaded guilty to indecent assault, a first degree misdemeanor, and was ordered to undergo an evaluation. Caviness was also ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years and submit to recommended treatment. Caviness was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old boy at a Christmas 2008 family reunion in Confluence, Pa., according to news reports.

The charge relates to inappropriate touching.

Michelle Caviness said Darin Caviness was removed from any responsibilities at the gym and suspended all interaction with athletes and students. He has since divested himself of all ownership interest in Hand 2 Hand.
