Two area schools get H1N1 vaccinations tomorrow

DAYTON, Ohio -- Public Health - Dayton and Montgomery County will begin school vaccinations against H1N1 on Tuesday, Oct. 27, with the vaccination of students at Incarnation School in Centerville and St. Rita School in Dayton.

For those children under the age of 10, where a second immunization is required, Public Health will return to those schools after 28 days from the first immunization.

Additional school clinics are scheduled through December. Questions about when H1N1 immunizations will start in various Montgomery County schools should be directed to the school systems where the child attends.

That information will also be available on the Public Health website as the specific dates are established, based on the availability of vaccine.

Vaccinations will be done by the use of nasal spray or a shot, dependent on what vaccines are available at the time.

Meanwhile, in Clark County, there will be an H1N1 vaccination clinic tomorrow at the Clark County Fairgrounds.

The clinic begins at noon and will continue while supplies last.

There is no charge but you must be eligible to receive the vaccine. That includes:

Pregnant women

Parents and household contacts of infants under six months of age

Children age six months through 4 years

Children and teens age 5 through 18 with chronic medical conditions that put them at risk for complications from the flu

Health care workers and EMS personnel with direct patient contact.

Greene County will have vaccinations available Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Greene County Fairgrounds, again for the specified priority groups only.
