Pro and anti forces show in full force at wind farm meeting
NORTH LEWISBURG, Ohio (AP) -- A public meeting on a plan to build a commercial wind farm in western Ohio drew a packed house made up of both supporters and opponents.
More than 50 people signed up to testify before the Ohio Power Siting Board last night during the meeting held in North Lewisburg.
EverPower Wind Holdings is proposing a 70-turbine farm and hoping to break ground on the project next fall.
During the hearing, opponents said the turbines would be noisy and hurt property values and the aesthetics of the land.
Supporters argued that the wind farm would be a good way to move Ohio toward clean energy for future generations, would not disturb residents with noise and would generate more than enough electricity for local homes.
