Lawmakers look at electronic tracking for violent sex offenders
DAYTON, Ohio -- Some area lawmakers want a better way to keep track of homeless sex offenders.
The move is a response to two attacks on women near Miami Valley Hospital within a month.
State Representative Clayton Luckie will propose legislation for court-ordered satellite tracking of homeless Tier III sex offenders.
There are some 24 Tier III offenders in Montgomery County and a total of 1039 total sex offenders.
State Senator Jon Husted says there is money available.
More than a dozen states have laws allowing electronic tracking of sex offenders.
