Boy struck while walking to school in Champaign County
URBANA, Ohio - A child was struck and dragged by a pickup truck as he walked to school Thursday morning in Champaign County.
Officials said the child was walking to North Elementary School in order to catch a bus to another school in the district. As he crossed the alley, a pickup truck struck the boy and dragged him several feet.
Both Careflight and Medflight were called to the scene, but neither could respond because of the rain. The boy was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.
There is no word on whether the driver of the pickup truck stopped or not. Police are still investigating the accident.
