SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Crime is down in Springfield and Clark County.

Reported criminal activity around the county dropped 3 percent in the first half of this year compared with the same period in 2008.

Sheriff Gene Kelly says part of the credit goes to a task force that includes his department, the Springfield Police Division and U.S. Marshalls.

Springfield saw a decrease of 4 percent in criminal reports in the first six months of the year.

Police chief Stephen Moody says it's the result of the good work of his personnel to be proactive.
