Bond Set For Attempted Murder Suspect in Sidney
PASCO, Ohio - A man accused of attempted murder in Shelby County has had his bond set at $500,000.
Police said 43-year-old Alan Branscum attempted to run over his wife, Mary, outside of their house Friday morning. Branscum first assaulted his wife inside their car, before she got out and ran away. He then allegedly tried to run her down and crashed his car into a house at the corner of Buckeye and Michigan Streets in Sidney.
Branscum then led authorities on a high-speed chase that lasted more than an hour. Deputies said the chase reached varied speeds of 30 to 70 mph along Pasco-Montra Road and State Route 706 in Pasco and went 60 miles from start to finish.
Several witnesses said Branscum was driving on two blown tires on the semi truck and honking his horn loudly as he fled from police originally down westbound State Route 47 into the village of Versailles.
Sidney Police Chief Kevin Gessler said Branscum was immediately taken into custody and booked into the Shelby County Jail.
His wife was treated for her injuries and released.
