SHELBY COUNTY, Ohio -- A Shelby County man wanted for trying to kill his wife is captured after leading police on a high speed chase.

Friday morning 43-year-old Alan Branscum of Sidney allegedly tried to run over his wife with a car. He then went to work and picked up his tanker truck.

Cops spotted Branscum driving the truck's cab without the trailer on Friday afternoon and the chase was on. The 90-minute chase moved through Shelby, Darke and Logan counties.

Police used stop sticks to end the chase but Branscum kept going in spite of some punctured tires. As the suspect was heading back to Sidney, officers stopped his vehicle by pumping a few bullets into its radiator.

Branscum was taken to the Shelby County Jail.

What others are saying

  • Cops are so smart
What gets me they always shoot out front tires and it stops no one. Why didnt they shoot out the radiator first then the chase would of lasted 10 min. Get your cop diploma and turn in your common sense.
