Rep. Turner: We Shouldn't Be Paying For NCR Relocation
WASHINGTON D.C. -- It's been more than a month since NCR announced it was moving its world headquarters, and 1,200 jobs, from Dayton to Georgia, but state officials are still fighting to make sure our tax money isn't being used to pay for the move.
It's previously been reported that part of the incentive package that Georgia offered NCR came from federal stimulus money. Congressman Mike Turner spoke Wednesday in a hearing on the spending of stimulus money.
"Hundreds of thousands of jobs are being lost throughout Ohio, and this corporate headquarters has 1,200 jobs that will be moving from my community to Georgia," Turner said. "My community is very upset about the prospect of stimulus dollars, dollars that they will have to pay for, being used to fund the relocation of jobs from their community to another."
During the hearing, Turner asked about the use of stimulus dollars to relocate jobs to other states.
"I don't have the specifics on the example, but it is disturbing," said Office of Management and Budget Deputy Director Rob Nabors. "Based on what you've just said, that does not sound like an appropriate use of recovery dollars."
Vice President Joe Biden will be in Cincinnati later today to check on the spending of stimulus money there. Turner has urged Gov. Ted Strickland to press the issue with Biden.
What others are saying
- 1200 jobs ARE NOT moving to GA1200 jobs are being CREATED in GA. 1200 jobs will be LOST in OH. If the jobs were transferring to GA, so would the individuals who currently hold those jobs. They are NOT being transferred. Therefore, approx 1200 people will join the unemployment line in Dayton Ohio. Someone needs to get their facts straight before printing such nonsense.

What, not what you expected? Tough. Live with it, suckers. And while you're standing in the unemployment line, think about how your First "Lady" is walking around in Moscow with a $5000 purse. Yes sir, Change You Can Believe In. Losers...
