Census Bureau: Dayton Continues Population Decline
DAYTON, Ohio -- According to the U.S. Census estimate, Dayton lost 1,153 residents from July 2007 to June 2008. It is part of a disturbing trend in which Dayton has experienced a 7.2 percent population decline (12,000 people) since 2000.
The only major Ohio city to enjoy an increase in population is Columbus, which gained an estimated 8,000 residents.
Cincinnati is holding its own, having gained 10 residents in a one-year period and just more than 2,000 in ten years.
