Cell Phone Likely Cause of Overnight Crash in Huber Heights
HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio - A teenage driver crashed her car early Wednesday morning, and police believe a cell phone was a factor in the accident.
The crash occurred on Chambersburg Road near Route 4 in Huber Heights just before 4 a.m. Wednesday morning. Police said an 18-year-old woman veered off the road, landed in a ditch, and then hit a utility pole. The woman was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with minor facial injuries.
Officers said it appeared as though the driver was using a cell phone at the time of the accident. The woman admitted to police that she had made a bad decision and was unaware of what was happening before she hit the pole.
The driver will likely be cited for driver inattention, according to police.
