Springfield Man Pleads Not Guilty to Break-In, High-Speed Chase
SPRINGFIELD -- A man accused in an early-morning break-in less than a month after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase in a rental truck pleaded not guilty to related charges Tuesday morning, June 30.
Shane Radcliff, 34, is charged with breaking and entering and vandalism in connection with a break-in at Patton's Power Equipment, 2400 Mechanicsburg Road early Monday.
Clark County Municipal Judge Thomas Trempe set bond at $50,000.
Investigators say Radcliff rammed a red SUV into a business on Mechanicsburg Road, took some items and fled authorities.
The SUV was later found crashed into a fence near Catholic Central High School in Springfield, and several thousand dollars worth of merchandise was recovered from the SUV, according to the report.
Radcliff was arrested last month on charges of theft and fleeing and eluding. In that case, investigators believe he used a rental truck in a theft at a Bechtle Avenue business and led authorities on a high-speed chase, according to court documents.
Radcliff was jailed after that incident and posted $15,000 bond on June 11.
