Sex Charges Filed on Area Teacher
UNION, Ohio - Charges have been filed against a former Northmont schools teacher and coach accused of inappropriate actions with an underage female.
Loren Meadows faces two counts of sexual battery after he was discovered with a partially-clothed 17-year-old girl that officials say was a student and athlete under Meadows' supervision.
The charges were filed Tuesday in Montgomery County, and under Ohio law a teacher or coach can be charged with felony sexual battery if the victim is a student or athlete who attends the same school.
Meadows resigned from Northmont on June 25 after he was arrested in Clinton County. Meadows had taught social studies and served as an assistant football coach and head boys and girls track coach at the school.
According to Union Police Chief Michael Blackwell, the case is scheduled for a grand jury on July 14. More charges could still be filed in addition to the original two.
Meadows was not arrested, though Blackwell said that would be a possibility pending the outcome of the grand jury.
