911 Dispatcher To Work From Jail
GREENVILLE, Ohio -- Darke County's 911 dispatch coordinator has been sentenced to 20 days in jail for felony drug trafficking, though he will be allowed to continue employment -- even while he is serving his sentence.
Brandon Redmond, 22, pled guilty last month to aggravated drug trafficking. He was charged in March after investigators determined he gave Percocet pills to a 17-year-old.
He was sentenced yesterday, June 24, to 20 days in jail, 60 hours of community service, a mandatory $5,000 fine, and will lose his license for 6 months. He will also be on probation for three years -- if he violates his probation he could get one year in prison.
Redmond's sentence included work-privileges that will allow him to continue has job for the county.
Darke County Sheriff Toby Spencer insists Redmond is a good kid who made a serious mistake, and said he hopes any employer would give the same benefit of the doubt to an employee. Spencer has also admitted if Redmond would have been denied the position he has now if he had been convicted before being hired.
Redmond has worked as a 911 dispatcher for the last three years.
