"Sexting" Teens Sentenced In Warren County
LEBANON, Ohio -- Two Mason teens charged with sending and possessing nude photos on their cell phones were sentenced today, May 11.
Both 15-year-olds pled guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The boy was sentenced to 30 days house arrest and the girl was told to write a research paper for the court on the dangers of sexting -- both will have to perform 100 hours of community service and give up their phones for 30 days.
If the teens complete their sentences without incident, the offenses will be dismissed from their records.
The boy was charged in February after a Mason High School administrator inadvertently viewed a nude photo of the girl sent to the phone. Another photo of a nude minor was also found on the phone by police.
"This is a just and adequate punishment," Warren County Prosecutor Rachel Hutzel said. "It sends a message to the teens of Warren County that this is not a joke, this is a serious issue that can have long lasting consequences."
