BREAKING NEWS: Two More Confirmed Cases of H1N1 in Clark County
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Two more cases of the H1N1 Influenza A Virus have been confirmed in Clark County, bringing the total to three.
The cases are associated with the Northeastern Local School District, specifically Northridge Middle School, which remained open this week after one case was confirmed last week. Both a student and a staff member remained home from school Thursday with confirmed cases of the virus commonly referred to as the "swine flu."
Officials stressed to residents that those who were identified today as having the virus were ill last week and did not become ill as a result of the school staying open. The school district continued to work in conjunction with the Health District to remain abreast of the situation.
There are still seven more cases awaiting results from tests ordered earlier this week. One case was ruled out earlier today, along with the two newly diagnosed cases.
According to the CDC Interim Guidance for Clinicians on Identifying and Caring for Patients with Swine-Origin Influenza A (H1N1), "the estimated incubation period is unknown and could range from 1-7 days, and more likely 1-4 days." Officials asked that anyone who feels sick get checked out by a doctor, remain home, and avoid contact with other people as much as possible to decrease the chance of passing along any virus or disease.
