DHL Talking With ABX Air, Could Save Jobs At Wilminton

WILMINGTON, Ohio (AP) -- Cargo shipper DHL says it is talking again with its current flying partners at its U.S. freight hub in southwest Ohio.

DHL said last year that it was pulling out of the site in Wilmington and hiring United Parcel Service to sort and fly DHL packages in the United States. The move would mean a loss of 8,000 jobs at the Wilmington air park.

An agreement to negotiate exclusively with UPS expired at the end of January, and DHL spokesman Jonathan Baker said Friday that the company is now also talking with others.

The development raises the possibility that ABX and ASTAR, which currently fly DHL cargo from Wilmington, might be chosen to continue serving DHL.

About 5,500 workers remain employed at the air park, about 30 miles southeast of Dayton.

severanced in chicago
19 years service then let out to pasture with 10 weeks severance pay in January,now they are getting packages for drivers for 2 years severance and pay out to get there 25 years service. So who got screwed the 300 who took the severance in January.

Law suit?
For those of us who got laid off after putting in 10+ years at DHL and signed the severance package we should get our jobs back if DHL decides to come back due to their mismanaged and their poor decision.I say there should be a law suit to get our jobs back for those who put in our time.

I got laid off after 16 years and I took the severence package because I had to and gave up all my seniority and ties with dhl they better not be comming back!!!

i work hard for my money i get paid a half of the union guys do i do the same work but faster and better i think the problem is not dhl it self but all the union worker

fedex should buy
I think FEDEX sould buy the airport and let all the people get back to work.Send DHL back to Gemany where they belong.

if it wasn't for the germans buying DHL & ruining the entire company by trying to compete with ups we all would still be working. they bit off more than they could chew ! DHL will never be the same.

Destroying Homes Lives is up to no good. Should anyone trust DHL? I wouldn't. Think about all the people lives that are being destroyed by that company! Big mistake if anyone trust what they say. Let the buyer beware for DHL.

This company needs to get there act together. They have caused so much stress on every employee working at ILN. Get it together DHL or get out!
