SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- The two residents of a home condemned after dozens of cats were found inside, more than half dead, were sentenced today, Jan. 12.

Loyce Ogden, 57 was sentenced to 90 days in jail, while Craig Hunt, 64, was ordered to serve 10 days of community service at the Clark County Humane Society.

The two were each found guilty of five counts of animal cruelty after 53 live cats and 71 dead ones were removed from a house at 2425 Beatrice Street last September.  The dead cats were mostly wrapped in newspaper and stuffed in trash bags in the garage, though several were found under a bed.

The house, which was filled with animal feces and had non-working plumbing, was condemned after the residents failed to clean it up.

Ogden had reportedly been investigated previously at another address, where dead cats were found in a freezer.
