Local Who Used Shock Collar On Kids Gets His Punishment
XENIA, Ohio -- A local man who pled guilty to punishing his children with shock collars was sentenced Friday to 16 years in prison.
David Liskany, 39, was accused of using the collars to punish his three children, now ages 5, 12, and 14, as well as holding them in freezing and scalding water.
"You have damaged your children for life," said Greene County Judge Timothy Campbell. Sheriff's Capt. Eric Spicer called the abuse the worst he has ever seen.
Liskany was first arrested in December of 2007 after his then 13-year-old son walked 20 miles for help through a snowstorm.
A Warren County court found Liskany guilty of misdemeanor child endangering in 2000 for burning his oldest son with hot water.
Family members, and even Liskany's separated wife, asked the judge for leniency in the sentencing. Judge Cambell and investigators both agreed that she was partly to blame.
"The evidence is clear, she knew what was going on," said Spicer
Liskany pled guilty in October to two counts of felonious assault and one count of attempted felonious assault.
What others are saying
- But if the president does it......its not illegal.
Unquote. - PunishmentI think this is one case where an eye for an eye would be acceptable. Put the collars on them for 16 years.
- ChildrenHe or the mother have no right to being called parents .They treated their children like dogs and people treat dogs better than what he is being accused of. Shameful and I pray the children recover and learn real love and get it . How can people hurt a child like that?
