PIQUA, Ohio -- A Friday afternoon fire was likely caused by a computer, according to Piqua fire investigators.

The fire happened at 1516 Madison Avenue.  The homeowner, Matt Taylor, is a lieutenant with the Lockington Volunteer Fire Department.

He was dispatched to a traffic accident in Shelby County, and left his laptop plugged in and sitting on the living room couch.

When Taylor returned two hours later, smoke was pouring from his home.  The Piqua Fire Department responded to the scene.

According to investigators, it is "highly probable" that heat from the laptop caught the couch on fire.

Taylor said he is just glad his wife and 10-month-old child were not in the home when the fire happened.
