DAYTON, Ohio -- Police say Dayton mom was arrested Saturday when she punched her 12-year-old daughter in front with officers.

38-year-old LaShawnda Jackson called police around 12:30 a.m. to ask officers to pick up her two sons from another part of town and bring them to her S. Broadway home.

According to the police report, while Jackson was talking with officers, her daughter came into the room. Jackson told the 12 year old not to get in her face and to go back in another room.

When the girl came back a few minutes later to speak to her mother, police say Jackson struck her daughter with a closed fist without warning.

Officers grabbed Jackson and instructed her that she could not strike a child like that, according to the report.  Jackson insisted her daughter was "being rude."

Jackson was arrested for misdemeanor child endangering.

The girl was not badly hurt and didn't seek treatment.  Children's services were contacted.
