DAYTON, Ohio -- Governor Ted Strickland toured the Miami Valley Tuesday afternoon to inspect the storm damage.

"We will get through this ... as Ohioans have always done ... with good grace and a commitment to each other", said Strickland.

The Governor said he is impressed with the response of communities to these unprecedented weather conditions in Ohio.

He urged the public to remain aware of safety concerns as the area continues to recover. Residents are advised not to go near fallen power lines and not to eat perishable food that has gone unrefrigerated for any period of time.

About one million homes and businesses remain without electricity in the state.
