Family Of Eight Homeless After Overnight Fire
CLARK COUNTY, Ohio -- A family is looking for a new place to live this morning after their home burns to the ground.
The fire hit overnight near the Clark County village of South Charleston on Route 42 near Selma Road in Madison Township. The fire left the home completely destroyed.
Neighbors reported calling police after seeing flames shooting 30 feet in the air. Firefighters responded to the fire early Friday to find the entire first floor engulfed in flames with the second floor starting to burn.
Fire crews had to bring in water by truck, since there are no fire hydrants in the area.
According to witness reports, the fire destroyed the home within 15 minutes.
Now 8 people, including 5 children are without a home. The American Red Cross is aiding the family in finding temporary housing.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
