DAYTON, Ohio -- Homicides are on the rise again in Dayton.

New stats just released show there have been 29 homicides in Dayton through the first eight months of 2008. That's the same total as all of last year.

However there were 43 in 2006 and 34 in 2005. The record came in 1973 when there were 105 homicides.

No reasons were given as to the increase.

Nearly half the homicides in 2008 remain open.
