Employees Put Down Fire At Miamisburg Foundry
MIAMISBURG, Ohio -- A fire Monday night, July 7, at Miami-Cast Inc. that an employee said started when a wooden mold broke, was most extinguished by workers by the time firefighters arrived on scene.
Chuck Dooten of Dayton said he and another worker were casting iron at the foundry, 901 N. Main St., about 10 p.m. when a wooden mold broke and caught fire.
The flames caught other wooden molds on fire and employees used fire extinguishers to douse the flames, Dooten said.
Firefighters from Miamisburg and West Carrollton were dispatched sometime after 10 p.m. on a report of a fire at the plant.
Dayton Power & Light was dispatched to cut power to the foundry while firefighters checked the property. The fire was reported out about 11 p.m., according to fire dispatchers.
There was no word from fire officials at the scene about a damage estimate.
