Defender.

I believe Dayton is dying. That is why I moved to Kettering. The difference I see between Kettering and Dayton is RESPECT. For the most part people in Kettering seem to respect each other, our community, ourselves, and our homes. I travel around the city of Dayton on a regular basis, and I see few signs of respect for others, the community, self, and homes.

The public should not rely so much on "elected representatives." How many of the people in the community really know what a candidate stands for. I'm sorry, but the general public is not well informed, they really don't care about such things. Every man, woman, and child needs to know how to depend on themselves and family. (Didn't we go through many days and nights without power, and families helping families while elected officials talked.)

Yes, the Maimi Valley is losing jobs. How do we get jobs. Several ways.

1. Low taxes. This is a fine tight rope. How low is too low? If City A is 2.5% and City B is 2%. Do business in City B. Then City A drops to 1.5% Move to City A?

2. Less regulations. Make it easy for small business to develop. We live in America everyone has oppurtunity, but it can be difficult. Cities need to help entrepreneurs. Tax credits, low interest loans, other business resources.

3. Live style. Improve the live style of your community. The arts in the Miami Valley are wonderful, but how many different people see and are involved in these things? I'm sure every show at the Schuster as the same crowd. Joe Public is not really interested in seeing a show. You need to give them a reason. Make it known, many of the radio stations I listen to carry very little information about shows at any of the local theatres. Plenty of concert information. How many of those people go to the Schuster to see an opera?

4. Education We need to stop funding education with property tax. I'm not found of an income tax either. How should we fund schools? I do believe in the school voucher program. Kettering Schools are another reason we moved to Kettering. Your child education is only as good as you are involved. Some parents are lazy when it cames to thier childs education. Maybe parents should pay more for a child education. But what if you can't pay? Sell more candy bars? I'm not sure. If I worked in another city and had to pay a education income tax I wouldn't like it, but it would be for education. Like I heard many times -- It will be a good day when the military has to have a bake sale and schools get all the funding. Or something to that effect.

Okay I've talked to much. Maybe I need my own blog.
