Man Charged in Attack on Woman near Cleveland

PARMA, Ohio (AP) -- Police have charged a recent prison parolee in the attack on a woman badly beaten along a walking trail near Cleveland. Parma police say 39-year-old Todd Torok of Parma was charged Monday with attempted murder, felonious assault and aggravated robbery.
The victim, 52-year-old Chevonne Ecclestone of Strongsville, is hospitalized in critical condition with a cracked skull. She was found unconscious Saturday afternoon half-submerged in a creek.
Police say the suspect was arrested Sunday while driving the victim's car. He was paroled April 30 after serving a sentence for robbery and drug possession.
Torok was moved to the Cuyahoga County jail. A message seeking family comment was left at a home phone listed in his earlier court records.
