Grain Elevator Blast in Champaign County

THACKERY, Ohio -- A massive explosion takes off the top of Landmark grain elevators in Thackery, in Champaign County.

No one was hurt in the blast, but State Route 55 between Dialton Road and North Hampton-Donnelsville Road is closed.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says he official detour route is State Route 235, U.S. Route 36 and State Route 560.

The explosion happened around 8:15 this morning, crews remained on the scene at noon.

The blast took off the top of a few elevators which were side by side. The blast was heard and felt in several nearby neighborhoods.
