DAYTON, Ohio -- A funnel cloud reportedly touched down about 4 p.m. Friday, June 13, near the intersection of Old Yellow Springs Road and Loretta Avenue, the Greene County Sheriff's Office reported.
There were no reports of injuries.
Barbara Quessinberry, who lives on Loretta, said she neither heard nor saw a funnel cloud.
"All the neighbors are fine," said Nancy Oakley of nearby Rockdell Drive. "Everybody has shingles gone and limbs down."
Dayton Power & Light reported nearly 5,000 outages at the height of the storms, utility company spokeswoman Judi Blair said.
As of 9 p.m., there were 2,363 outages in the Miami Valley. Montgomery County customers were hit the hardest, she said. Customers in Greene, Miami, Preble, Fayette, and Clark were also affected. Blair said DP&L hoped to have most of the service restored by noon today.
Today's forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of precipitation, mostly cloudy skies and a high near 79.
