Diebold Releases First Quarter Estimates

NORTH CANTON, Ohio (AP) -- Diebold Inc. has estimated its first quarter revenue at $700.2 million. It's the second release of estimated revenue since February, when it estimated full-year 2007 revenue at $2.95 billion.

But North Canton, Ohio-based Diebold hasn't posted complete financial results that include earnings since last April while regulators review the way the maker of ATMs, security systems and voting machines reports revenue.

Diebold said yesterday that the first quarter estimate is up 8.1 percent from a revised first-quarter 2007 estimate of approximately $647.7 million.

Diebold has turned down an unsolicited takeover bid from Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies Corp.
