Firefighters Continue to Investigate Explosion

06/11/2008 15:06:18

THACKERY, Ohio-- Firefighters are still working to determine the cause of an explosion that caused serious damage to a grain facility in Champaign County Monday, but officials from the company believe the cause might have been electrical.

Firefighters from Christiansburg could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon, June 11. However, according to information provided by the company, the explosion at Champaign Landmark, 8130 Ohio 44, might have started after lights were turned on in the facility to begin daily operations.

On Monday, June 9, an explosion rocked the facility. Firefighters were called to the scene a second time Tuesday evening to respond to another fire that apparently started because of burning debris.
