The Superdelegates Can End This Now

With Hillary Clinton unable to spin an upset in North Carolina and barely able to win in Indiana, there was no earth-shattering change in the Democratic race last night.

Instead, the climb got steeper for Clinton, as she will lose ground in the delegate race to Obama.

I fully expect to hear calls today for Clinton to get out of this race, as Democrats urge unity and want to find a way to end this Obama-Clinton fight.

I don't expect Clinton to get out on her own. She has invested too much to just give up.

So, if Obama can't close the deal, then the superdelegates can do it for him. They have the power to come out in a rush in coming days and force the hand of Hillary Clinton.

"Tonight we stand less than two hundred delegates away from securing the Democratic nomination for President of the United States," said Obama in Raleigh, North Carolina, as he won an impressive win in that state.

I expect to see a flurry of superdelegate endorsements tomorrow for the Obama campaign.

And the Clinton Camp will likely not be able to respond.

West Virginia votes next Tuesday on May 13. Will it be over by then?

May 20 is Kentucky and Oregon. Will the supers move this race again?

Or will we have to wait until all the primaries are over and watch Democrats figure out a way to get a majority of superdelegates for Obama or Clinton?
